Non-Computer Tech Use in Classroom
CD player and a DVD player ia a great non-computer tech that is used in the classroom.I think that these techs might get used just as much as the computer well at least the CD player.
The reason why this is suck a great tool is that students can read along with a book at a quite center. Also they can listen to music at the music center. Students can spend some time to themsevels at a center with using a CD player and headphones. TEacher can also use the CD player to teach children the states by sing a song from a tape/CD.
A DVD player or a tape player can allow students to sing to a song from reading the words at the bottom of the screen. Some lessons are on DVDs for example there is a DVD that teaches children how to speak in spanish, what a great way to teach children. (books on tape/CD can do that too)

I completely agree that CD players are a great non-computer based technology. I have a preschool placement this semester and the teacher always uses the CD player. The students love to sing and dance. I think using CD players get students actively engaged is wonderful. I also think they can be a great tool for teaching large motor movement, because children love to dance. Singing and dancing can add a lot to lessons.

I think that the CD and DVD players are often over looked when we think of technology in the classroom. These are wonderful things to use in the classroom and children love to listen to music. Music is a great way to get the children's attention or a good reward for good behaviour. When I did my field experience in a first grade classroom, the teacher often used music while the children were writing. This helped them to stay on task (and not talk) and for many of them, it kept them calmer.

I use music in my Art classroom as much as possible. I often set up stations with mp3 players that the students use while working on a drawing prompt. I pick a particular piece of music and try to match the music to the prompt. Of all the technology in classrooms today I use music mp3 players and cds much more in my art room than any other.
